PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As a sub-consultant to WSP, AEA is providing site security engineering electronic and electrical system design for LaGuardia Airport’s Truck Screening Facility and Central Heating and Refrigeration Plant (CHRP) Entrance. Engineering services included preparation of final design documents and performing construction engineering support services. The final design package, developed under package TAA GR-1261, included communication, power, and lighting design for various site security elements. Devices include security cameras, vehicle and pedestrian gate arms, wedge barriers, vehicle gates, roll-up doors, control consoles, Knox box access, ID card readers, intercom telepathy, safety loops, guard booth integration, and control panel design and integration. Power loads were calculated and noted within the panel and wiring schedules.  Voltage drop calculations were performed to adequately size wires.  Pull boxes were sized and located to accommodate future installations and maintenance access. Overcurrent protection devices were sized per PANYNJ standards to protect the circuits, and conduit fill calculations to support the installation and routing of cables through the raceway system. All work is being performed in accordance with the Port Authority standards and guidelines. All design elements are being coordinated with the facility to ensure secure connections and an appropriate sequence of operation. Within the final design package, AEA created various sequence of operations for the truck facilities. AEA is currently completing construction support services on a very aggressive schedule to meet PA deadlines. Construction related services include reviewing shop drawings, responding to Requests for Information (RFI), and performing system inspections.
