PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As a sub to AECOM, Advantage Engineering Associates, P.C. is providing Electrical Engineering and Surveying services for Contract No. P200.578.  Contract No. P200.578. will provide for highway geometric and other safety improvements at 35 ramps associated with 11 service areas along the GSP. Safety will be enhanced by bringing the ramp widths, shoulder widths, accel/decel lane and taper lengths in compliance with current codes, including the NJTA Design Manual and AASHTO. Survey and base mapping were prepared using photogrammetric methods to produce 1”=30’ topographic mapping for the project limits, which will extend 500 feet beyond the expected limit of improvements of each ramp. We obtained new color digital aerial photography flown at an altitude of 1,090’ above mean terrain resulting in imagery at a ground sampling distance (GSD) of 0.02m. Approximately 180 photo control targets were set prior to the flight, predominantly along the outer slow shoulder of the Parkway. The photo control were tied to NAD 83(2011) NJ2900 horizontal datum and NAVD 88 vertical datum. Mapping was compiled directly at 1”=30’ on softcopy digital stereo plotters. All visible features consistent with NJTA standards and specifications for 1”=30’ scale mapping were shown. Break lines and spot elevations will be digitized and combined with the ground level plan to create a DTM in SelectCAD from which 1’ contours will be generated. The data delivery included the DTM surface data. All data was formatted in MicroStation V8i using
