PROJECT DESCRIPTION

AEA is selected three times in a row (2005, 2007, and 2011) as On-Call consultant (Prime Consultant) to NJDOT for providing design support to the ITS Engineering. In 2007, the New Jersey Department of Transportation issued new specifications. In conjunction with these updates, we are working with the ITS Engineering Department to develop a new set of Standard Drawings for all ITS devices used in future road construction throughout the state. We compiled details from previous contracts, reviewed and edited the details to match current industry practices and specifications, and updated the drawings for release on the Department’s website.
In association with Dewberry Goodkind, we are developing standard details of ground mounted, butterfly, and cantilever sign structures for installation of DMS signs. The standard details and design criteria is being coordinated with NJDOT structural engineering and independent sign fabricators. In support of this work, we also developed material specifications for all ITS devices, and are currently in the process of developing a comprehensive materials pre qualification requirements and standardized testing procedures.
